Points of interest. Signposts and shop signs carry their in-game text. Boats and zeppelins follow their routes, with a pin on every dock. Forges, anvils, campfires and buildings are placed models: whether a forge works for smithing is not known yet, and the buildings layer is incomplete where Forever rebuilt a town. The teal pins are places we visited in the beta, drawn at the spot we stood on when talking to a vendor or opening a mailbox, not where the NPC is. Nothing here is a spawn table.
Mobs seen in beta. A separate layer, off by default, with a list in the Tools panel: every creature we met in the beta, with its level range, classification, creature type and family, filterable by name or type and sortable by level. Pick one and every sighting is dotted on the map with an outline around them. The dots are where we stood when we targeted, moused over or saw the nameplate of the creature, so they outline the ground we met it on, not where it spawns or how far it wanders. A creature met in two zones gets one entry per map.
Controls. Drag to pan. Scroll, pinch or +/− to zoom. Right-drag, Ctrl-drag, Alt-drag, middle-drag, two-finger drag or the tilt and rotate buttons to turn and tilt. Arrow keys pan (Shift+arrows turn and tilt), Q/E rotate, T toggles top-down, N resets north, H shows the whole map, F fullscreen, W copies a /way line, / searches. Double-click zooms in.
Dungeons, raids and battlegrounds. Pick the kind of map in the first menu, then the map. Instances with terrain (Zul'Gurub, Ahn'Qiraj, Stratholme, the battlegrounds and more) are full 3D with the instance minimap drawn over them; the rest show the instance minimap, flat and top-down. The instance card links to the entrance on the world map and to the PvE tab, and an entrance card on the world map opens the instance map. Dungeons and raids have no in-game map coordinates, so the readout shows world yards there. Each map has its own address, such as /map/#deadmines.
Search takes names, or a zone and coordinates such as Elwynn Forest 42 65, or just 42 65 for the zone under the centre.
